New Course: Self-care for Creative Arts Majors

flyerWorking in the arts is amazing—and sometimes difficult. Learn how to take care of yourself by understanding the challenges that are, more or less, common to all artists

MU 180A2 Self-care for Creative Arts Majors, is designed to provide creative arts students with an increased understanding of mental, emotional, financial, physical, and social wellness against the challenges of a career in the arts. This course has no pre-requisites and is open to all students.

“Students come to CSU to study the creative arts because of their passion for what they do, and they want to make a profession of it,” explains Associate Professor of Music, Dr. Andrew Knight, who is teaching the class. “That passion can be challenged over the course of a grueling program of study, and faculty in the School of Music, Theatre, and Dance have experience navigating these challenges.”

Through this course taught by Dr. Knight and a variety of guest experts, students can expect to learn how to manage their overall professional wellness as they move forward in their programs, and into professional life.
